Engrish / Chinese Insanity #2

Asia in general is known for their… ridiculous… ways of translating things into English. Store names, product slogans, t-shirts… you name it. If you’re unsure what I’m referring to, feel free to go to Engrish.com. If you are sure what I’m referring to, you might already be there. It’s a great site – not to poke fun, mind you, but belly laughing a few times is always good for the soul.

Since I’ve been here, I’ve already seen quite a few instances of said Engrish. I’ve been recording it for my own amusement, but it occurs to me that you, the good strong reader, might want to be amused as well. And so we’re going to make this a semi-regular installment here on Nick in Asia.

This falls more under the “Chinese Insanity” portion of the segment, but my oh my… I saw this box of goodness while walking in Danshui – there were tons of little shops and whatnots along the river, remember, and these were sitting out in front of a kid-friendly, toy-centric one.  If these are the minis, I’m not sure I’m quite prepared for the standard sized balls.

  1. Hey! I hate to lower the tone of this otherwise respectable establishment, but is it just me or does that ball bear just the slightest resemblance to a breast?

  2. i’d like 2 for my “personal use”.

  3. At least you won’t be lonely there 😉

    Talk about some HOT Pockets!

  4. I can’t quit looking at these…i am ashamed. By the way I thought those were edible, that’s why I called them HOT pockets, then I realized they are toys, I don’t know which is weirder.

  5. “when mini ball is dirty you can use…” Ain’t it always dirty? 😉
